Summary
This project aims to improve Met Council planning and operations through development of data sources and methods of analysis. The planning and performance management of the transportation division will receive new Accessibility Observatory data on access to essential destinations, as well as analysis of these data. These data have previously been incorporated into the regional Transportation Policy Plan and the updated data and analysis can help measure trends and progress towards Met Council goals. The Metro Transit division will collaborate with researchers on improving retention and hiring of bus operators and other front-line staff. Transit service depends on a robust and reliable workforce, which means focusing on hiring and keeping workers who do the job well. Collaborative research, funded along with local counties, will establish what is being done, what is working, and what needs improvement in the processes at Metro Transit.
