Dr. Manik Barman conducts research on pavement materials, design, maintenance, and rehabilitation. He teaches infrastructure materials and pavement engineering-related courses at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Barman is actively involved in several professional organizations (e.g., ASCE, TRB, ACI, ACPA, ISCP, NRRA, etc.) and currently serves as a member of two standing committees of the Transportation Research Board and a member of the board of directors for the International Society for Concrete Pavements (ISCP). He is a peer reviewer of several scholarly journals in his research area.

Barman received his PhD and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, respectively. Before joining UMD in 2015, he served as a senior research fellow at the University of Oklahoma.
