Transit Program Allocation: Experiences across State and Recommendations for Minnesota

Principal Investigator(s):

Zhirong Zhao, Former U of M Faculty, Humphrey School of Public Affairs

Project summary:

Rural transit agencies in Minnesota receive annual funding support from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). As the resources for these programs are expected to get tighter in the coming years, MnDOT seeks to revisit the method that it used to allocate transit funding in order to make improvements. In this research project, researchers are conducting multiple case studies about relevant experiences in nearby states, reviewing related program in Minnesota, and providing recommendations for possible ways to revise the current programs.
