Pedestrian Control at Intersections: Phase IV

Principal Investigator(s):

Nikos Papanikolopoulos, Professor, Computer Science and Engineering

Project summary:

This project continues our work on pedestrian control at intersections. We have used CCD cameras for pedestrian detection since CCD cameras are able not only to detect a pedestrian but simultaneously track him/her in real time (tracking can provide significant time dependent information). The time dependent information has helped us design adaptable pedestrian phases. Our work will include model based tracking and filtering of pedestrians along with completion of the transfer of our algorithms to a PC based system.
