Intelligent Ground Vehicles Competition Evaluation: Phase I

Principal Investigator(s):

Lee Alexander, Researcher, Mechanical Engineering

Project summary:

ITS has decided to fund the entry of a team of University of Minnesota students in a transportation related vehicle competition. This trip is to evaluate the 2000 intelligent ground vehicles competition in Orlando this July to see if it would be an appropriate event to send a team to. The IGVC has historically had a military (off road) road orientation, but in the last two years they have included events that are more in line with the transportation (on road) orientation that ITS is supporting. We will assess the degree that participating in this competition would support the goals of ITS and get an idea of what kid of vehicle will have to be constructed to compete.
