Algorithms for Vehicle Classification: Phase II

Principal Investigator(s):

Nikos Papanikolopoulos, Professor, Computer Science and Engineering

Project summary:

We propose to continue the development of algorithms for vehicle classification. This system will enable traffic engineers to collect vehicle classification distributions in an automated, safe, and flexible way. We plan to use laser scanners, infrared sensors, and CCd cameras in order to take sequences of images at several state-aid streets and highways. The proposed system will analyze these sequences and provide vehicle class counts.
