Project summary:

This project delivered one three-day workshop on topics related to context-sensitive design and solutions (CSD&S) for delivering transportation projects. The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration sponsored this workshop in an effort to continue promoting the institutionalization of CSD&S concepts as part of the transportation project development process. Persons invited to attend include representatives from the following: state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, local governments, the federal government, regulatory agencies, stakeholder associations and non-profit organizations, community and neighborhood organizations, consultants, and other practitioners. This workshop addressed tough questions and challenges from around the country, as well as lessons being learned and innovations being pursued using CSD&S philosophy and principles. The format included a combination of keynote general sessions, concurrent tracks, roundtable discussions, poster exhibits, and walking and bus tour mini-workshops.
