Dr. Meijun Cai is a research technical manager and environmental engineer for the Natural Resources Research Institute at the University of Minnesota Duluth. With more than 10 years of experience in industry and academia, Cai's research interests include water chemistry, stormwater treatment, climate change, watershed, and environmental statistics. Her current research focuses on using cost-effective technologies and materials to treat wastewater and stormwater to sustain resources and protect our environment for resilient communities. Cai is also an environmental statistician and GIS analyst who works with multiple statistical methods and software, hydrological modeling, and ArcGIS.

Cai received her BS, MS, and PhD degrees in environmental engineering from the East China University of Science and Technology, Technical University of Denmark, and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She has worked in a consulting firm and for the steel industry as an environmental engineer. Prior to joining the Natural Resources Research Institute, Cai was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
