Use of FRP Sheets to Retrofit (Strengthen) Pier Caps

Project summary:

The use of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets will be investigated as a retrofit/strengthening scheme to repair diagonally cracked pier caps. The investigation will include tests on small-scale specimens to investigate a number of FRP products, anchorage details and degrees of cracking. Additional large-scale tests will be conducted on pier cap details subjected to monotonic and cyclic loading in the laboratory. The laboratory study may be followed by a field implementation project.
