Storage and Access Methods for Advanced Traveller Information Systems

Principal Investigator(s):

Shashi Shekhar, McKnight Distinguished Professor, Computer Science and Engineering

Project summary:

Storage and access methods are vital for efficiency of advanced traveler information system (ATIS) such as Genesis. Commercial databases provide generic access methods, which perform poorly for ATIS computations. We plan to design, evaluate alternative storage methods and file structures to store ATIS data such as road maps in this project. This project complements a project for 1993-94 on evaluation of algorithms for ATIS.
