Statistics for Mn/Model

Principal Investigator(s):

Gary Oehlert, Former Professor, Statistics

Project summary:

Mn/Model is an archeological predictive model used by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) to predict the likelihood of cultural artifacts being present at a given location. The model uses statistical methods to determine likelihood based on a wide variety of environment and landform variables. This project contained several broad objectives that support the development of Mn/Model Phase IV: 1) installation, verification, and training for Phase III software and scripts; 2) exploration of new prediction and model evaluation techniques for inclusion in Phase IV; 3) recommendations on Phase IV modeling techniques; and, 4) documentation and training on Phase IV modeling techniques.
