New Reporting Capabilities for Continuous Vehicle Class and WIM Data

Principal Investigator(s):

Taek Kwon, Former Professor, UMD-Electrical Engineering

Project summary:

In the previous project, Development of data warehouse and applications for continuous vehicle class (VC) and weigh-in-motion (WIM) data, a data warehouse for efficiently managing large scaled WIM and VC data was developed along with software packages for reporting and analysis tools. Development of additional reporting and analysis tools is needed in order to accommodate increasingly diverse and sophisticated reports required by the MnDOT Office of Transportation Data and Analysis's (TDA's) customers. Therefore, the goal of this implementation project is to expand existing software capabilities to include new functions and also to improve existing functions to have more user selectable options. The outcome of this project would allow MnDOT TDA to better manage the quality of the data from the WIM and VC sites, and generate analysis and reporting data with a higher degree of sophistication and greater speed. Implementation of the proposed functions would meet the current user needs, as well as some of the anticipated future needs of the Traffic Forecasting and Weigh Data sections of TDA.
