The research questions for this project are as follows: Measure the impact of the current trend of heavier car loadings by the class I carriers on MN shortline carriers Measure the potential for attracting either traditional COFC/TOFC traffic or rail oriented commodities to shortlines and define any role Mn/DOT may have in facilitating the process.
