Disk Shaped Compact Tension Testing of Asphalt Concrete

Principal Investigator(s):

Eshan Dave, Former Assistant Professor, UMD-Civil Engineering

Project summary:

This project will undertake the disk-shaped compact tension (DCT) testing of asphalt concrete as part of the Low Temperature Fracture Testing Pilot Project. The testing will be conducted during the mix design phase to ensure good cracking resistance as well as during pavement construction to verify the cracking resistance of as-produced asphalt mixture. The project will also include testing support for the MnDOT Office of Materials and Road Research in establishing the DCT test capabilities.
