Archival of Traffic Data: Evaluation of Alternative DBMS Architectures

Principal Investigator(s):

Shashi Shekhar, McKnight Distinguished Professor, Computer Science and Engineering

Project summary:

The traffic measurement data gathered by TMC needs to be archived to aid decision making in different areas. TMC generates a large amount of data (tens of gigabytes) every year. Its archival will require efficient management of secondary storage devices such as disks, tapes and CDs. We also need to guarantee quality of data by detecting the measurements from faulty sensors. The project examines alternative architectures to manage the archive.
