FY10 Mn/DOT CSS Forums and Web Updates

Principal Investigator(s):

Jim Grothaus, Former Sr Dir, Tech Assist, Center for Transportation Studies

Project summary:

The University of Minnesota Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) will provide support and expertise to develop and host two strategic Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) Forums (Integrating CSS in Construction, Operations & Maintenance and A CSS National Dialog) during the spring of 2010. Additionally, CTS will revamp, update, and enhance the CSS website that CTS has hosted and maintained for MnDOT during the past nine years, with additional CSS guidance, tools, resources, and links to further support the strategic need and emphasis for taking the integration of CSS to a new level within MnDOT and to improve the user-friendliness of the site. These efforts are consistent with MnDOT's new Strategic Vision and Strategic Plan. MnDOT's executive leadership has recognized that the philosophy and principles of CSS can serve as an effective business model and has directed that CSS should be taken to a new level of integration across the Department's decision-making, planning, programmatic, project development, construction, operations, and maintenance functions and activities to maximize benefits and cost-effectiveness for the agency and customers.
