The Center for Transportation Studies was one of dozens of exhibitors at the Lyndale Open Streets event in Minneapolis on Sunday, June 7. Hosted by Our Streets, the event is billed as a “celebration of community … allowing people to walk, bike, roll, and connect with their neighbors and local businesses.” Lyndale Avenue was closed to automobile traffic between 22nd and 42nd Streets, and CTS’s booth was located just north of the Midtown Greenway.
Eric Lind and Andrew Owen of CTS’s Accessibility Observatory engaged visitors with an exercise based on their research that measured the level of traffic stress of individuals’ preferred routes for bicycle trips. CTS Director Kyle Shelton and other staff shared information about the Center’s programs and distributed safety flashers to attendees of all ages.
