CTS Deputy Director Gina Baas has received a 2025 University of Minnesota President's Award for Outstanding Service.
The award recognizes faculty and staff who have provided exceptional service to the University, going well beyond their regular duties and demonstrating extraordinary commitment to the University community.
Baas received her award from U of M President Rebecca Cunningham at a reception on June 25, 2025, at the Bell Museum. She was 1 of 12 recipients this year.
Baas has dedicated more than 27 years of service to CTS and the U of M. Throughout her tenure, Baas has championed CTS’s mission, built strong relationships within the University and with external partners, and provided leadership on initiatives related to transportation safety, connected and automated vehicles, freight, education, and more.
CTS Director Kyle Shelton nominated Baas for the award. Nancy Daubenberger, MnDOT commissioner; Rajesh Rajamani, CTS scholar and U of M mechanical engineering professor; and John Levin, director of strategic initiatives for Metro Transit (retired), provided letters of support.
“Baas has been a stalwart champion and steward of our collective mission,” Shelton says. “She is a dedicated public servant, an excellent spokesperson for the University, and has been central to CTS’s success. CTS and the University are so much the better for her leadership and commitment to our work.”
