Snapshot: 2024 CTS Transportation Research Conference

Thanks to the 300+ transportation professionals who attended the 2024 CTS Transportation Research Conference, held November 7 at the McNamara Alumni Center on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.

The annual event convenes researchers and practitioners from Minnesota and the Upper Midwest to highlight new learning, emerging ideas, and the latest innovations in transportation.

This year's program highlights included:

  • An opening keynote presentation from Natalie Villwock-Witte, an assistant research professor and research engineer with the Western Transportation Institute at Montana State University, who explored common transportation challenges in rural areas and shared recommendations for addressing them.
  • An afternoon keynote from Anne Goodchild, founding director of the Urban Freight Lab at the University of Washington, focused on innovation and experimentation in urban freight.
  • Twelve concurrent sessions exploring rural opportunities and infrastructure, the future of urban freight, transportation equity, shared mobility, workforce development, safety, and more.
