Gary Davis's research interests include causal inference and impact assessment in traffic safety; application of accident investigation and reconstruction methods to traffic engineering questions; the use of Bayesian statistical methods in traffic and transportation engineering; and the application of optimization methods to problems in traffic engineering and transportation planning.
Davis received bachelor's and M.S. degrees in experimental psychology from Eastern Washington University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in civil engineering from the University of Washington. In 1986-87, he was a visiting researcher at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
