Post-Doctoral Associate, Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering
Xinlian Lu's research includes transportation network modelling and travel behavior modeling with an emphasis on the impacts of emerging technologies and network disruption. Her work focuses on optimization algorithms for vehicle routing, experimental studies of travel choice behavior, real-time transit network control, and the future role and operation of connected and automated vehicles.
Xinlian is currently a post-doctoral associate working with Professor Alireza Khani in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering. She received a BS in management from Southeast University, an MS in management science from Nanjing University in China, and a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her PhD dissertation focuses on optimizing routing decisions for empty taxi drivers in city-scale networks with dynamic programming and reinforcement learning approach.
