Please note: As of July 2009, this Web site is available as an information resource, but is no longer being updated since the program is not currently active.

Community transportation offers options for persons who cannot drive or who lack access to vehicles due to limited incomes, language and cultural barriers, advancing age, physical disabilities, or other factors.

The Center for Transportation Studies and Hennepin County, with the support of the Federal Transit Administration, have joined together to promote innovations in community transportation through this Web site. The site, sponsored and supported by CTS and Hennepin County, serves as a clearinghouse for information on research and developments in transportation services for communities in need.

Minnesota partnership develops action plan for older drivers

By 2030, Minnesota’s population of individuals over age 65 will grow to 1.2 million—and the related proportion of drivers will grow as well. These statistics point to the need for good multidisciplinary planning to keep older individuals driving safely and help transition them from the car to other alternatives when they can no longer drive.

ICTC submits plan, details initiatives for upcoming year

In its recently submitted annual report to the governor, Minnesota’s Interagency Committee on Transit Coordination (ICTC) identified key coordination areas and action recommendations for 2009.

Regional transportation plans now online

Coordination resource available online

Last year, the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Office of Transit and the Metropolitan Council completed an 18- month study on community transportation coordination. Content from this is now available on this site in an interactive format that allows users to read parts of the study, download the final reports, and search.
