Parcel-Level Land Use Data Acquisition and Analysis for Measuring Non-Auto AccessibilityPrincipal Investigator:Kevin Krizek, Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs Co-Investigator:Ahmed El-Geneidy, Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs Research component:Sponsors:Hennepin County; Minnesota Department of Transportation Status:Complete Project Summary:This work will develop GIS coverages (across the entire Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan region) that reliably represent the types of destinations and activities to which people travel. This project requires highly detailed data to adequately capture the small-scale types of land use that are more likely to be influenced by transit, cycling, or walking. The core of this project will be to obtain (from secondary sources), manage, clean, tailor, and in some cases collect parcel-level land uses for the seven-county metro area. Where data on parcel-level land uses are not appropriate or applicable (e.g., in the case of mixed-use parcels) it may be necessary to rely on employment data.
