Generation of Travel Time Data for the Metropolitan Freeway Network

Project Summary:

The goal of this research is to generate estimated travel-time data for selected routes in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul freeway network using archived data collected by automated detectors.   The resulting travel time data could be used for various needs including the estimation of the network traffic performance at Mn/DOT as well as supporting other research activities at universities. This project is a collaborative effort of the Transportation Data Research Laboratory at the University of Minnesota – Duluth and the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Office of Traffic Safety and Operations.
