Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Minnesota Speed Management Program

Project Summary:
The purpose of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Minnesota Speed Management Project (MSMP) conducted by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (Mn/DPS). In collaboration with these two state agencies, researchers examine historical data, pre-test data, and data collected during four test periods in order to determine the initial effectiveness and first-year impacts of teh MSMP. The results of this analysis will be used by Mn/DOT and Mn/DPS in deciding whether or not to recommend an extension of the program.
