The conference theme is “transportation innovation in an era of fiscal restraint—cutting-edge alternatives in mobility, finance, and technology.” At least one concurrent session during each time slot will share this theme.

The conference will begin with a panel discussion titled “On the Road in 2030: Technologies for More Sustainable Transportation.” Scheduled speakers are Professor John Heywood of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Professor Alfred Marcus of the Carlson School of Management at the U of M, and Eivind Stenersen, chief engineer of Donaldson Company.

The luncheon on May 4 will feature a presentation titled “A Quiet Revolution in Transportation Finance,” by Professor Martin Wachs, director of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
