July 2003
A conference titled "Designing Minnesota's Community-Based Transportation System" will be held October 1 at the Earle Brown Center in St. Paul. Sponsors are Hennepin County Community Works, CTS, and the Humphrey Institute's State and Local Policy Program.
The University has been engaged in a major study of community-based transit systems for the past year, as a result of a related CTS conference in 2001 sponsored by the Greater Twin Cities United Way.
The purpose of the upcoming conference is to begin a dialogue across providers and human service agencies, as a first step toward an expanded and continuing discussion that can eventually lead to a better system. The agenda will include a review of the University's research and several discussion sessions on important topics identified by the research.
The August CTS Report will have more information about this event.
