CTS seeks program coordinator, systems/software engineer

CTS advertised two full-time, annually renewable position openings in the June 3 Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

The first is for a program coordinator position to assist in the planning and administration of transportation research, education, and outreach projects, with a major emphasis on activities related to the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Institute. Other research program areas include infrastructure engineering (pavements, bridges) and transportation policy/planning research (economic and environmental issues).

The second position is an experienced systems and software engineer. The engineer will initially lead and implement two ITS outreach/education program initiatives for distance learning and a multidisciplinary ITS engineering course intended to be offered through the College of Engineering (Institute of Technology). Other duties may include technical assistance for real-time vehicle simulator development and other transportation, sensing, and communications projects.

The application deadline is June 25 for both jobs. For a copy of the full position announcements, please call CTS at 612-626-1077.

Librarian, researcher leave CTS

Eric Hinsdale, CTS library and information manager, left CTS in April to become technology coordinator with the Metropolitan Library Service Agency in St. Paul. During his three-year tenure Hinsdale expanded the Center's web site and intranet and redefined CTS library services to match the changing nature of information technology. Gary Barnes, a research associate with the Transportation and Regional Growth Study since November 1997, left CTS in May. He joined the Humphrey Institute's State and Local Policy Program, where he will study value pricing and continue his previous research related to transportation and regional growth. CTS wishes them both well in their new endeavors.
