As a program coordinator for the Center for Transportation Studies, Jan coordinates research program activities with an emphasis on the ITS Institute. She works closely with faculty and research staff to facilitate connections with sponsoring organizations. Jan is also responsible for reporting to sponsors on research progress, monitoring outcomes of research activities, and contributing to the design and implementation of administrative systems to deliver CTS programs.
Prior to joining the University of Minnesota, Jan was a senior associate at Richardson, Richter & Associates, where she provided public policy and project management consulting services for a variety of transportation-related projects. She also served as a planner for the Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance, where she assisted local governments with designing and implementing waste reduction and recycling programs. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in biology and environmental studies from St. Olaf College and a master of arts degree in public administration from Hamline University.
Jan is a member of the Minnesota Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar, for which she serves as director of programs. She is also chair of the board of directors for Cottonwood Foundation.
