Barbara VanDrasek has been engaged in teaching and research on cities in the United States and the former Soviet Union for the past twenty years. Much of her work on Minnesota and the Twin Cities metropolitan area has involved the study of transportation systems, including six research reports co-authored in the Transportation and Regional Growth Study. She is a frequent collaborator with Prof. John Adams.
VanDrasek holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master's Degree, and Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Minnesota. She has co-authored a book on the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan region, now under revision for a second edition, and is co-author of seven research reports resulting from grant-funded work for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, two monographs for the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at the University of Minnesota, and several book reviews, research reviews, and journal and encyclopedia articles.
