Carissa Schively Slotterback’s research focuses on public involvement and decision-making in environmental, land use, and transportation planning processes. She is specifically interested in issues of impact analysis, plan implementation, uncertainty, risk perception, and consensus-building.
Before joining the Humphrey Institute in 2004, Schively Slotterback gained extensive experience as a professional planner in both the public and private sectors; she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). She remains closely involved in the planning practitioner community, serving as the Faculty Liaison to the Minnesota Chapter of the American Planning Association and a member of the Urban Land Institute of Minnesota's Executive Committee. Schively Slotterback holds a Ph.D. in urban and regional planning from Florida State University and a Master of City and Regional Planning degree from Clemson University.
