Lukermann's CTS research projects
Barbara Lukermann has been a Senior Fellow at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs since 1982. She teaches land use planning courses and client based workshops in the Master of Urban and Regional Planning program. Prior to joining the faculty she spent fifteen years as a principal in a consulting firm that worked with local communities to develop their initial comprehensive land use plans and regulatory ordinances. Lukermann is also a Senior Research Associate with the university's Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA) whose mission is to engage faculty and students in applied research that benefits the state and its local communities.
Lukermann received a First Class Honors degree in Geography from Cambridge University (UK) and an M.A. in Geography from the University of Minnesota. Primary research interests are in land development, neighborhood planning, affordable housing and the linkages between land use, housing and transportation policy. A current project is analyzing the decision processes in highway infrastructure investments over the last fifty years in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
