Keith Knapp is a transportation engineer whose research focuses on the safety and operational impacts of numerous factors—such as geometrics, weather, and management polices—that influence the roadway environment.  In addition to his work with CERS and the Humphrey Institute, he is also currently the Director of a multi-state Deer-Vehicle Crash Information and Research Center.

Prior to his work at the University of Minnesota, Knapp was an Associate Research Scientist at the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University. Knapp received his B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, a Masters of Engineering with a focus in Transportation from Cornell University in 1989, and a Ph.D. in Civil (Transportation) Engineering at Texas A&M University in 1997.  He is a licensed professional engineer in IL, IA, MI, and WI.
