NSF Bridge Workshop

Accommodations and Travel

Workshop Location

The workshop will be held at the Radisson University Hotel (formerly Radisson Metrodome) on the University of Minnesota campus, located at 615 Washington Avenue S.E., Minneapolis Minnesota 55414. Telephone: (612) 379-8888 Fax: (612) 379-8682

Air Travel

Conference participants should fly in and out of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). Most major airlines service the MSP airport.

There are three options for transportation from the MSP Airport to the Radisson University Hotel:

  1. Super Shuttle is $18 with multiple stops.
  2. Taxi is $32 to $38 (20-25 minute trip).
  3. Light rail transit (LRT) system is $1.50 to $2.00 (rush hour) that goes from the airport to the Metrodome. If you call the hotel (612-379-8888) and ask for the bell captain a few stops before you reach the Metrodome station, they will pick you up at the Metrodome station. The hotel is approximately one mile from the station. The train is fairly direct and takes approximately 20 minutes. View Light Rail Schedule

Sleeping Rooms

A block of sleeping rooms is being held for workshop participants at the Radisson University Hotel. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel directly at (612) 379-8888 and asking for "Reservations." Give the arrival date of November 19th and let them know you are with the NSF
Bridge Workshop, which has a special room rate of $115 per night. Reservations for the discounted rate must be made by October 27th.

Participants may also make sleeping room reservations online. Under "Check Rates & Availability", enter the Check In/Out Dates of your stay(e.g., 11/19/2008 and 11/21/2008) and Click on "Go." Then under "Search for Special Rates" section enter the Promotional Code: "NSF08". "NSF Bridge Workshop – Standard guest room" should appear as the only selection with a special rate of $115 per night. Click on "Select" and follow the rest of the directions to make your reservation.

If you need a sleeping room for Friday night, November 21, please do not contact the hotel to make your reservation. Instead, please contact Stephanie Malinoff at malinoff@cts.umn.edu or 612-624-8398 for assistance.

Expense Reimbursement

Participants seeking travel expense reimbursement must complete and return two separate forms: the Vendor Authorization form (17 KB DOC) and the NSF Bridge Workshop 2008 Travel Reimbursement form. The "Vendor" Authorization form should be returned by Friday, October 20th in order for us to facilitate processing your expense reimbursement in a timely manner. The NSF Bridge Workshop 2008 Travel Reimbursement form should be submitted after the event and include a copy of all receipts. All documents should be submitted to Catherine French, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Minnesota, 500 Pillsbury Drive S.E., Minneapolis, MN 55455.
