An introduction to the production activity problems related to planning, scheduling, inventory control, plant layout, plant location, work methods, and productivity. introduction to linear programming.

Production and Inventory Planning
Study of production planning, production scheduling, and inventory control decisions in manufacturing and service organizations.

Business Logistics Management
Management of the flow of materials in relation to market demand, prices, supplier performance, availability of materials, customer service, and other factors.

Manufacturing Technology and Information Systems (graduate)
Monitoring of production operations, procedures for controlling deviations in schedules and costs, role of information systems in production control.

Operations Strategy
Analysis of the fundamental strategic and organizational issues which determine the basic nature of the production functions, including facilities planning, process technology, and functional work group structure.

Management Science Applications in Production
A problem-solving approach to production and inventory management with a quantitative, model-based orientation.

Management Science Applications in Production

An appraisal of the tools for analyzing the logistical activities of the firm transportation, warehousing, materials handling, inventory control, order processing, etc. Emphasis is on a systems approach to the management of the logistics function.

Transportation Engineering Civil Engineering and Mechanics

Traffic Control
The control of transportation systems with emphasis on traffic engineering principles. Data collection, capacity analysis, traffic improvements, signalization, signs and markings, channelization, intersection, speed, and safety considerations.

Transportation Engineering
The technological and common elements of all modes of transportation, their effect on performance, demand, and outputs of a transportation system. Development of new transportation systems.

Transportation Facilities Design
Physical design of transportation facilities including geometric design, pavements, and terminals for highway, rail, air and water transportation. Student project work will be required.

Urban Transportation Planning
Techniques used to plan urban transportation systems: data collection, trip generation, trip distribution, factors underlying the choice of mode, traffic assignment, modeling and evaluation techniques.
