How This Department Is Related to Transportation

Mechanical engineering is involved in most technological activities of society and dominates many, including automotive, environmental and pollution control systems, transportation and materials handling, and many more. Mechanical engineers may be engaged in design, development, research, testing, and other areas. Programs are offered both through the Twin Cities and Duluth campuses. In the Twin Cities, graduate degrees in industrial engineering can be obtained with an emphasis in transportation.
