Human and Environmental Factors

Transportation opens opportunities to see and enjoy surroundings, but at the same time, the operation of vehicles produces pollution, generates noise and congestion, uses energy and other resources, and poses threat of accidents that can endanger human safety and the environment —USDOT

The study of how transportation affects humans and the environment and how it can be made more user- and environmentally-friendly is becoming a major focus in transportation, in addition to methods of improving transportation by using the environment.
