

The Executive Committee is the Center's main decision-making body. It has primary responsibility for providing strategic direction to staff and for overseeing the implementation of CTS programs. It governs the operations of the Center, consistent with University of Minnesota policies, based on input from the Board of Advisors, CTS Councils, and CTS staff.

The University’s Senior Vice President for System Academic Administration appoints the Executive Committee Chair for a two-year term. The chair may be reappointed for a second two-year term, and shall not serve more than two consecutive terms without special justification presented by the University.
Five standing members serving on the Executive Committee represent the University of Minnesota. These colleges and offices are currently represented on the Executive Committee:
Three standing members serving on the Executive Committee are senior staff representing key government agencies with transportation responsibilities. These members represent the following agencies:
The chair of the CTS Council Coordinating Committee also serves as a standing member of the Executive Committee.
At-large committee members represent a balance of business, academic, government, and other interests, and are chosen because of their leadership and influence in the field of transportation. At-large members serve a maximum of three two-year terms, with special circumstances required to serve beyond a third term.
There are three ex officio positions on the Executive Committee. Individuals, or their designee, will serve as long as they hold the position for which they were appointed. The ex officio members are:
